Assingment #3 - Pain

Hi there.
Again , thank you so so much for all your votes, comments, thoughts and interpretations. Every time before publishing our assignment we have sort of an idea among us, which pictures will be the clear "winners", then we publish them and you come and leave your comments and you turn our world up side down, in many cases completely contradicting our expectations - it's great learning experience, and we are very grateful for it. .

This assignment's subject was - Pain.
...and let me tell you ...it had created a lot of pain - but mostly in our worried heads. For last two weeks we were experiencing creative pain, trying to find the way to approach this subject without falling into trap of becoming overly pathetic, cliche, kitsch or too literal. After all I think that perhaps the most accurate image of pain, would have been if we would photograph ourselves being tormented and struggling with this latest assignment.
"...Soon enough I realized that is difficult to find pain in our society. Although many people are confronted with it ,visible pain is hard to find. I realized that we are very protected and safe from physical pain. You have to dig deeper and spend more time trying to catch the sort of pain our society lives through...
The theme was harder that I thought...
"- Beniamin
Anyway we did our best to come up images of pain, so follow the link at the bottom of this post to visit the photo gallery and see the outcome of our latest creative endeavor.
We greatly appreciate you comments and votes.
As before you have two options:

Quick - if you don't have much time, or don't feel like leaving a written comment, just vote for you favorite picture in the poll just here to the right. And you are done.

Regular - if you have a bit of time and want to share your opinion with us about your favorite photo or photos, quickly vote for your favourite picture in the poll on the right and then leave a written comment below, as usual.

Best Regards
j

Hi Guys! Long awaited pain has finally arrived :)

I have realized, that it is very difficult to judge the Photos, knowing the Theme.

If I just look at all the pictures, without thinking about the theme, picture N 5 has a beautiful composition, it has a nice tension in balance and depth.

If I look at the same picture, with the THEME in mind, it pictures more " the possibility of pain" ......a pain to come.

Similarly, the picture n9, has " what after pain" and picture n8 is the "action of pain".

But the picture n1, has all of those in one: one can imagine what was before, what is now, and what is after. It is very simple....but transmits pain most clearly. Well, at least for me.
So I voted for number 1.

Lots of sunny kisses from Sweden,

Liza

It's very difficult , but I would choose the 5 , the methaphore is a bit wiered and cliché in the same time but it's a beautifull picture.

see you,
Gaël.

hey guys,
this is my first comment on this project, although I have been checking out the pictures from your first assignment. I am really impressed by ALL the photos. I think your selection of pictures shows great technical accomplishment and so far they always tackle the assignment in interesting ways.
For this week, I choose pict #4. Pict #5 was the runner up, as it is a great graphic composition and a beautiful picture. But pict#4 has something that really absorbs me. It's as if I can feel that I am looking at the real space in the picture, instead of just looking at a photo.
Anyway, keep up the good work!

Hey,

I voted for #7.
Its simplicity tells me about the deep, irrational nature of pain.

What a great great idea you boys.

So I voted for number three but I'm really not sure why something to do with the two materials being so different (...?)

Number 2 came close as it's the one that best conveys an emotional turmoil I think. Loss is probably the worst pain - but not easy to photograph.

You are brilliant.

I don't know much about pain. That's a privilege. The worst pain for me is related to love & loss. Photo nr4 wins.
Looking forward to your next theme. It's great!! & inspiring.
