Open Assignment February - "Difference and repetition"
Hello everybody!!! Here we have an interesting proposition for you.
From now on, FramingFrames will hold an open assignment every month.
We will publish the subject of the assignment at the beginning of the month and
you have 2 weeks to come up with interesting photo representing your view on that subject.
Send it to us, we will put it on our blog and our Facebook page for everyone to see it and vote on it.
Everybody is welcome to participate !
Here is the first assignment.
The subject for this month was proposed by our friend Dmitry Paranyushkin and it is …. " Difference and Repetition"
The rules are:
- Take a picture within next 15 days (no old pictures).
- Send it to framingframes@skynet.be before the deadline - 15th of February
- One photo per person
- Enjoy your self.
Now grab your camera, look at the world around you, start taking pictures and send us some great photos.

"Where I end and you begin" 1st Edition
"Where I end and you begin"
Is the latest project of framing frames, based on the concept of cadavre exquis.
It's a series of photographs - one inspired by previous one.
Simply speaking - one of us takes a picture and sends it to the other one to provoke an inspiration which in turn produces a new picture which is then sent to the next person, and on and on we go.
We just completed the first round , and now we begin to post the pictures on Facebook and our blog. Since we only allowed to see the picture of the person before - we don't know the other photographs and we will discover them at the same time as you do.
Each of us has one day to produce a photo - so every day there will be a new picture posted.
On this assignment we are 3+1 joined by guest Milan Szypura.
This is different from our usual assignment in a way that there will be no voting poll for it, but as usual you are very welcome to leave your comments and thoughts.
Hope you will follow us on this creative new path and enjoy it as we do.

Assignment #9 "Three of a kind"
Hi, there!
The 2010 we begin with a twist on our usual assignment idea.
This time the only requirement for us was to create a triptych / mini series of photos.
Each of us created a set of 3 photos related to each other in some way and intended to be appreciated together.
So, this time we ask you not to focus one particular photo, but look at the whole set of 3 of them, and pick the set you prefer.

"… everything is covered and unified by this one dominant colour. The sound is muted and almost gone and there is this overall feeling of stillness and calm. The traces of foot steps and car tracks remain in the snow telling the story of what have happened. The world is reduced to a monochrome photograph and receives a whole new kind of poetry and meaning to it."
" Nowadays I hear talking about space in terms of warm hole and folding space, yet in everyday life we still have to open a door to get to a different space.
Open doors are for you to go in or stay out but there is always something intriguing behind a closed one "
"nights, rains, headlights..."
"I often like blurry pictures, don't know really why, but maybe it produces something mysterious and reveals -in a way- a different perception of reality.
This last weeks, I took a lot of pictures from cars, trains, buses by rainy nights.
It's in fact bad conditions for photography, but I like the surprises it gives, helping me to discover different settings for the camera and the eye.

Assignment #8- 1/100s (one hundredth of a second)
In this assignment we focused on the technical aspect, rather then on the narrative one. One hundred of a second is the setting of the shutter speed on the camera, that we chose to take all the pictures with for this assignment. But in it's technicality there is also a narrative. On hundred of a second is tiny fraction of time. Those little fractions build seconds, minutes, hours…years of our life.
The camera let's us grab this impossible to perceive moments and immortalize them for years. Perhaps in that tiny fraction we witnessed something that happened only then and will not happen again for years, perhaps in this tiny fraction we realize the beauty of something that was in front of our eyes for years.

Open Assignment #1
Hello everyone !
It's been a while that we wanted to open FramingFrames blog's structure in some way. Now the time is right, so we happy to announce our first !!! open assignment !!!
We would like to have such an assignment every couple of months or perhaps more often - depending on your response :)
So, read the rest of this mail for the rules and guide lines , then grab your camera and start shooting, then choose your best shot and send it to us. In two weeks we will publish all the photos and we will open that gallery to voting as usual.
Rules:
-Theme: "Reflecting on yellow and red"
-Duration: 2 weeks - deadline is 18.09.2009
-Where to send your pictures: framingframes@skynet.be
-Limitations: 1 picture per person
-Pictures have to be taken during next 2 weeks - no old pictures!
-Try to avoid heavy photoshop editing. Use editing programs as you would use in traditional photo development - to correct colors, sharpness, exposure.
